Good news, and more good news!. The good news is that Apple is launching the iPad 2 today in 25 other countries. The more good news is that domestic delays (when ordering online) have moved into the 3-4 week range. This is an improvement over the 4-5 weeks that Apple.com was quoting purchasers, although that may change with the additional demand being added to Apple’s already taxed assembly-line.

From everything I’m reading on Twitter and from my overseas friends, the lines in other countries are as long or longer as they were in the united states. I’m guessing the big difference is that people in other countries probably aren’t scalping iPads quite as frequently as they have been here in the US, although the flipping of products in the US has created a very lucrative aftermarket for iPad 2 models in nearly every configuration. If you have any comments on the foreign gray-market for Apple iPads, please do share.

Has the next iPhone been found or pre-released by Apple Computer?

Honestly, I am not sure what to believe. On one hand it’s highly likely that an engineer got drunk on his birthday and left his next-generation iPhone at the bar for some <del datetime="2010-04-20T17:43:49+00:00">unscrupulous</del> lucky soul to find and release to the world. At the same time, it’s very likely that this is Apple’s PR/Marketing machine trying to learn how the world will feel about their possible changes to the phone that has nearly spawned a religion.

There, I said it, Gizmodo may have found the holy grail or created the best marketing stunt ever known, and it is likely that we, the consumers, will ever really know the truth. In the meantime, I recommend trotting over to Gizmodo.com and reviewing their review of what may well be the next iPhone available to the masses.

In 1984, CompUSA opened it’s doors and consumers and businesses stormed them to take advantage of value, knowledge and selection. In recent years, it seems that the company lost it’s edge and quickly lost consumer marketshare to companies like Best Buy and Fry’s Electronics and business marketshare to companies like CDW and Dell. In February of 2007, they shuttered 126 stores, including a handful in the Silicon Valley. If a computer store can’t make it here…?

Therein lies the rumor – will CompUSA be closing the rest of their stores and logging out of the marketplace? I suspect yes, but only time will tell.
